Unlike many of the traditional ESL opportunities for students not living in an English-speaking country, we teach with the assumption that you want to learn English, not pass a test. The are wildly different goals, requiring very different approaches. As such, our approach is tailored more to the needs of adults, although we are able to accept younger students if the situation warrants it.

One of the problems that ESL students in many countries have is that they do not encounter native English speakers until their more advanced classes. For most of their English education, they are taught by people for whom English is also a second language. There are many characteristic pronunciation problems produced when the manner of speaking is influenced by the pronunciation of the native language. Many of these teachers never consider their own pronunciation worth improving, so the population in general all exhibit the same or similar problems.
From our experience focusing on pronunciation in thousands of sessions with hundreds of students, we have developed a body of knowledge, techniques, and methods for anticipating issues and giving the students the understanding and opportunity to improve or correct them.
During this pandemic period, we are offering to teach our methods to online teachers and tutors. This is only available to those teaching students in or from Taiwan and, since Taiwan standardized on the General American accent, is currently only available to those tutors in the U.S.
In the past 20 years, there has been a revolution in our understanding of how the mind acquires linguistic information and how to best study it. But no one does it. This is, in large part, simply because they don't know, and they are only familiar with the tried and true ... yet ludicrously ineffective and inefficient, rote memorization.
We offer classes on what the science says, how to leverage that in development good study habits, and the tools available (such as Anki) to facilitate the study process.
